W. Abraham Ltd is 100% family owned operated, with over 84 years of serving the Taranaki communities. In that time, we have performed over 20,000 funerals.

All of our staff are fully qualified in their respective areas with many years of experience between them. (Barrie alone has been directing funerals since the early 1960's.)

The Chapel of W. Abraham

The largest and most modern Funeral Chapel facility in New Plymouth. Named after Willy Abraham we are proud to offer all our client families the use of our Chapel on Devon Street, where a funeral service can be held, seating about 220 people.

This facility boasts all the modern equipment you would expect from a first class venue - fully airconditioned with multi media facilities, and the ability to produce video and audio recordings of a service.

We have a large range of options that allow us to personalize every service we are involved with. Whether you decide on a small private gathering in our "Remembrance Chapel", or a large public event at "The Chapel of W. Abraham", we have the facilities and services to suit your needs.

People should be aware that not all funeral homes are created equal. We have certainly worked hard to provide a range of services that are not offered by anyone else in Taranaki. We always urge people, no matter whether they are buying a new car, or just shopping in general - make informed decisions. And we think this is even more important when you are trusting people with your most precious possession - someone you love.

Adjacent to the Main Chapel is our Reception and Catering lounge, where family and friends may gather for refreshments and a time of fellowship following a service. This area can comfortably cater for around 200 people.

Webcasting

A webcast is basically a live video broadcast of a funeral service over the internet. It allows anyone who wishes to watch and hear the service from anywhere in the world. There is no limit to the number of viewers and the transmission is viewable in any location around the world - providing the viewer has a computer and high speed internet connection (i.e. broadband).

We have partnered with the online memorial site and webcast provider "absentFriends.com". We establish a memorial site and book the webcast for the day of the service.

absentFriends.com hosts the memorial site which serves as the "front end" of the webcasting. Viewers are provided with a link via email, or they can search absentFriends.com to locate the memorial site.

The broadcast begins about 20 minutes before the start of the service.
